You see I'm more than half way done with my MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation (I'm in shade NC44 in case anyone is wondering) and I'm having thoughts about my next move.
Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Studio Fix. This is probably my 3rd or 4th bottle! It gives me awesome coverage, matches my skintone really well, is fairly long-lasting, etc. However I am planning on doing some traveling for an extended period of time in hot, humid weather (my hair frizzes just thinking about it...yikes).
That said, I've been keeping my eyes open for a new foundation that will perform well in this type of condition. My criteria would be a foundation that:
- is long lasting
- has got good coverage
- has little to no transfer
- is water resistant
- is matte
- matches my skin well
I don't mind spending a little extra cash and going department store for foundation. I have used a lot of higher end foundations in the past. It's just something that makes sense to me, since I use foundation everyday (unlike a random lime green cream eyeshadow that might get worn once a year). And I am definitely not against drug store foundations. I've used full bottles of Maybelline Dream Matte Moose, Revlon Colorstay and L'Oreal True Match. So I guess what I'm saying is I'm not discriminating at all. I just want something that will work well!
One foundation that has come to mind is the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet +.
This one is $36...which I'm okay with as long as it does the job well. On the website they say that it is long lasting, buildable, stable, matte, water resistant, etc. This hits all the check marks although I'm concerned as to whether I will find my correct shade. This will be something that I will have to get a couple of samples of from Sephora and see for myself.
Another foundation I have heard good things about is MAC Pro Longwear.
This one is $31 (a little pricier than Studio Fix Fluid). Again, I'm cool with the price if it's good, which I have heard. According to MAC, this foundation "gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition"...I like the way that sounds. And that's something in particular I have heard is valid. I already use the Pro Longwear concealer, and I like the way that one works (except the pump dispenses way too much product). It also says it controls oil. My only concern with this foundation is that they only have the shade NC42 and NC45. And I will most likely fall smack dab in the middle. One of my pet peeves is when makeup is too light or too dark.
Well, that's all I've got so far on this subject. I don't really know of any other good foundations that would fit that criteria. I've got about a month, so I'll do some research and figure it out. But if anyone has feedback--any ideas on foundations that might work for me, or feedback on any of the two I discussed above--please comment and let me know! I would adore that. This is quite a challenge for me, but I'm excited to take it on!
Anyway, that's enough typing for now. Thanks for reading! Talk to ya soon.
